About InstantGoldRate
Where our rate comes from, and what we do not do.
InstantGoldRate shows today's gold and silver rate for India and turns it into the numbers people actually need: what a piece of jewellery will cost with making charges and GST, how much gold a budget buys, and what a gold loan could give. Rates are shown per gram, per 10 grams and per bhori, the unit used for gold in Assam.
Where the rate comes from
The rate is the benchmark published by the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA). IBJA publishes an opening rate around 12:30 PM and a closing rate around 6:30 PM IST on working days, with no rates on weekends and bank holidays. We read it through the Metals.Dev data service shortly after each publication. The 24K figure is IBJA's 999 rate; 22K (916) is 91.6% of it and 18K (750) is 75%.
The rate excludes 3% GST and making charges, and jewellers often set their board rate a little above IBJA. If we cannot read the rate, the page says so. We never show an estimate in its place. See the disclaimer for details.
